Your body produces hyaluronic acid! This biomolecule is naturally present in your body, particularly in the joints, the eye and the muscles. But it is also present in the various layers of the skin, particularly in the dermis. With age, the natural production of hyaluronic acid decreases and the effects of time appear. The level of hyaluronic acid is halved after the age of 50.
In cosmetics, Hyaluronic Acid is usually derived from the biotechnological synthesis of bacteria. In the past, hyaluronic acid could be extracted from rooster skulls, but today, cosmetics favour the bacteriological synthesis technique for ethical reasons and to limit the risks of contamination by impurities.

By ensuring the skin’s hydration, hyaluronic acid contributes to the formation of connective tissue. The latter acts as a support for collagen and elastin fibres. Collagen and elastin are responsible for the skin’s youthfulness, flexibility and firmness. Hyaluronic acid therefore plays an important role in maintaining the skin’s tone and density. It is the key to the youthful appearance of your skin and allows it to regenerate. Also, the hyaluronic acid in cosmetic products allows the production of hyaluronic acid in the skin thanks to the fibroblasts!
Finally, hyaluronic acid is known for its exceptional hydrating properties. It is a highly hydrophilic molecule that can retain up to 1000 times its weight in water. This allows water to be retained in the skin cells. The moisturising power of this molecule makes it an essential active ingredient in moisturising care products. It fights against the lack of elasticity of the skin, reduces wrinkles and fine lines and keeps the skin healthy.
Hyaluronic acid is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin!

Used in the early 2000s in cosmetic surgery by injections to fill in wrinkles, this molecule has found its place in the world of cosmetics in anti-ageing serums and creams. It is therefore no longer necessary to call on a specialised dermatologist or surgeon to take advantage of the benefits of this active ingredient. Good news for women who are afraid of surgery or needles!
It is now recognised as an excellent anti-wrinkle agent. Its role in the synthesis of collagen makes it an ideal

There are two forms of Hyaluronic Acid with different functions:
– High molecular weight hyaluronic acid (HPM)
It maintains water in the surface layer of the skin by preventing it from evaporating thanks to a protective film. It protects the skin from external aggressions and hydrates its upper layers.

– Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (LMWH)
It stimulates the production of collagen. As this molecule is smaller, it penetrates more deeply into the skin and therefore helps to keep the dermis deeply hydrated. It stimulates the natural production of hyaluronic acid, preserves the skin’s tone and thus delays the appearance of signs of ageing.
Cosmetic products can be used alone or in combination depending on their care objectives.
